Are you looking for driving lessons in Amsterdam and a reliable driving school in Amsterdam? At Driving School Baas we help you obtain your Category B driving licence in a clear and professional way.

Our experienced instructors provide personal guidance, clear explanations and driving lessons tailored to your level. Whether you are behind the wheel for the first time or already have some driving experience, we guide you step by step towards your practical driving exam.

Start Driving Lessons from the Age of 16.5

In the Netherlands you can start driving lessons from the age of 16.5 for the Category B driving licence (car). At that stage a theory certificate is not yet required.

However, we do recommend obtaining your theory certificate as soon as possible while you are taking driving lessons. This prevents delays when you are ready for your practical driving test but still need to pass the theory exam.

Driving Lessons at Driving School BAAS πŸš—

With us you can choose individual driving lessons or a discounted lesson package. The advantage of a package is that you do not have to pay per lesson and you benefit from an attractive package discount.

All driving lessons are one-on-one with a fixed instructor. This means full attention for you and maximum focus on your progress.

Each lesson lasts 90 minutes, during which you actively drive. There are no coffee breaks or private errands during your lesson time β€” your lesson is truly your lesson.

If an instructor is unexpectedly late, the lost time will of course be made up during a following lesson.

Lessons are scheduled in consultation. You can take lessons in the morning, during the day, in the evening or on weekends. You can also decide where you would like to be picked up and dropped off.

During the training you will learn to drive according to the standards and guidelines of the CBR. If extra attention is needed for certain parts, we will focus on those areas.

You will always drive in the same, smoke-free lesson car and usually with the same instructor (unless you prefer otherwise). We also keep track of your progress in a lesson schedule, so you can clearly see where you stand and what is still needed to be ready for the exam.

We work structured, honest and goal-oriented β€” with one goal: helping you pass your driving test confidently and safely. πŸ’ͺ

How We Work at Driving School Baas πŸš—

When you start driving lessons, everything is new. It is completely normal that things do not always go smoothly at the beginning. Do not let this discourage you β€” learning to drive well simply takes time.

Driving is more than just controlling a car. You learn how to steer, accelerate, brake, shift gears and β€” perhaps most importantly β€” how to observe traffic properly. Eventually these actions will become automatic.

An important part of the training is anticipation: looking ahead, assessing situations and reacting in time to other road users. During your lessons your instructor will help you develop this traffic awareness. We discuss traffic situations, analyse behaviour on the road and work on your attitude and decision-making as a driver.

Driving School Baas works with a structured lesson plan. Your instructor keeps track of your progress so you can clearly see where you stand and which parts still need attention to become ready for the exam.

We work in a structured, clear and goal-oriented way β€” so that you grow with confidence towards your practical driving exam. πŸ’ͺ

Interim Driving Test (CBR) πŸš—

An important part of the training is anticipation: looking ahead, assessing situations and reacting in time to other road users. During your lessons your instructor will help you further develop this traffic awareness. We discuss traffic situations, analyse behaviour on the road and work on your attitude and decision-making as a driver.

Driving School Baas works with a structured lesson plan. Your instructor keeps track of your progress so you can clearly see where you stand and which parts still need attention to become ready for the exam.

The interim driving test is scheduled in consultation with you and your instructor. πŸ“…
We deliberately choose the right moment so that you benefit from it as much as possible.

When your driving level is close to exam level, we reserve the test at the CBR. You will drive an official test route with a real examiner, just like during the practical driving exam.

This is not an extra lesson.
It is a professional assessment moment.

You will receive objective feedback from an examiner and know exactly where you stand. In addition, you can earn an exemption for the special manoeuvres. This means less pressure during your practical exam and more focus on the driving itself. πŸš—

When submitting the request we take the CBR reservation times into account, so that your driving training follows a realistic and efficient timeline.

For parents

The interim driving test gives a clear insight into the exam level of your son or daughter. It helps prevent unnecessary retakes and extra costs, and ensures a well-prepared step towards the practical driving exam.

At Driving School Baas we do not just schedule an exam.
We schedule strategically. 🎯

First prepare.
Then test.
Earn your exemption.
And then pass your driving exam in one go like a real BAAS. πŸš€

Driving Test for Test Anxiety (CBR)

Are you afraid of failing your practical driving exam? Or have you failed before and did nerves play a big role? In that case, test anxiety may be affecting your performance.

Test anxiety is the fear of not meeting expectations β€” either your own or those of others. Because of this, you may not be able to show your full driving ability during the exam.

Always discuss this openly with your instructor. Together we will look at how we can support and guide you in the best possible way.

The CBR offers a special driving test for candidates with test anxiety. This exam takes longer (approximately 80 minutes) and begins with a calm introductory conversation with the examiner. This gives you the time and space to start your exam in a relaxed way.

Important to know:
The exam is not easier, but more time is taken so that you can demonstrate your driving skills in a calm and controlled manner.

Not sure if this type of exam is right for you?

Discuss it with us. We will think along with you and make sure you start your exam with confidence. πŸ’ͺπŸš—

Refresher Course at Driving School Baas πŸš—

Did you obtain your driving licence some time ago but no longer feel completely confident in traffic? Or do certain situations β€” such as merging onto the motorway, parking or driving in busy city traffic β€” make you feel tense?

Then a refresher course at Driving School Baas is a smart choice.

Together with an experienced instructor you decide how many lessons you need and which parts require extra attention. For example: driving on the motorway, parallel parking, parking in tight spaces or driving in parking garages.

The refresher course is also ideal if you have not driven for a longer period or if you need to get used to a new living environment with busy traffic.

With an instructor next to you, you receive focused guidance and practical tips, allowing you to gradually rebuild your confidence behind the wheel.

In many cases 3 to 5 lessons are already enough to help you drive independently and confidently again. πŸ’ͺ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer support for performance anxiety and traffic trauma?

Driving school Baas uses a method to help people who no longer dare to get into a car. Our instructors learned this method during additional training. The method used depends on the cause and is generally based on reliving the traumatic experience and processing it afterwards.

A method has also been developed to learn to control driving test anxiety. We listen to the student and will look for ways to overcome the fear and to control it. Inform your driving instructor about the traffic trauma or fear of driving.

Can I learn to drive environmentally conscious with you?

we learn you to drive more comfortably and safely while saving up to 15% fuel.Β  Driving school Baas from Amsterdam is one of the driving schools that has become proficient in this modern driving style. The driving style is taught to all our students who take the cource category B (passenger car). With the intention to train a new generation of drivers who drive safer, more comfortably and more envirement-consciously.

For every training, we will apply the principle of β€œThe New Driving” which is integrally included in our driving training.

Do you offer a 6 or 10 day driving course?

If you don’t have much time to follow a driving course, or if you just want to get your driver’s license quick, a 6 or 10 day driving course might be something for you! This fast, intensive training gives you the opportunity to get your driver’s license quick. Your exam is requested directly at the CBR. Before the start of your course, you know the time and date of your exam.

Discuss with your driving instructor when you want to take the driving lessons. Due to the duration of the driver training, you can start with practical lessons as soon as you have a theory certificate.

I haven't ridden in a while, do you have a refresher course?

If you got your driver’s license a while ago, but you still don’t feel confident enough to go on the road independently, or if you notice while driving that there are situations in which you don’t feel comfortable, you can contact Driving School. BOSS take a refresher course. You then determine in consultation with the instructor how many lessons you are going to take, and which parts should be covered in any case. (For example, merging onto the motorway or entering parking garages.)

A refresher course is also extremely suitable for people who have not driven for a while or are not used to the busy traffic in, for example, a new place of residence. With an instructor next to you to support and guide you where necessary, you will learn to get used to driving a car and dealing with all other traffic on the road. Often a small number of refresher lessons is enough to get back on the road confidently.

How many driving lessons needed?

You wonder how many driving lessons you need before you are ready to take a practical exam? This is different for every person.

On average, about twenty driving lessons are needed to master all the subjects. There are people who need more lessons, but of course there are also natural talents who can manage with fewer lessons.Β

When you start your driving lessons, your instructor can often estimate during the first or second driving lesson how many driving lessons you will need. Your instructor will give you some advice but if you don’t agree with the advice you can just say so and the instructor will adjust his lesson schedule to your wishes. However, we do recommend that you listen to the advice of your instructor because it is a shame to take a practical exam when it is already known in advance that there is only a small chance that you will pass. It is better to take some extra lessons and take the practical exam with a high chance of passing. An instructor from Driving School BAAS will never let you take more driving lessons than you actually need, because getting a driver’s license is already expensive enough.
